Childhood Memories of Holi
Holi is one of the most exciting festivals of childhood. As a child, Holi was not just about colors but also about fun, laughter, and endless mischief.
1. The Excitement Before Holi
A week before Holi, my friends and I would start collecting colors, pichkaris (water guns), and balloons. We would plan how to splash water on each other and hide buckets full of colored water on the terrace.
2. Waking Up Early on Holi Morning
On Holi morning, I would wake up early, excited to start the day. My mother would apply mustard oil on my skin to protect it from colors, while my father filled buckets with colored water.
3. The Fun of Playing with Colors
As soon as I stepped outside, my friends would attack me with gulal and water balloons. We ran around the streets, chasing each other with pichkaris, laughing and shouting, "Holi Hai!"
4. Delicious Sweets and Snacks
After playing with colors for hours, we would go home, where my grandmother prepared delicious gujiyas, malpuas, and thandai. Eating those sweets with family made the festival even more special.
5. The Struggle to Remove Colors
After the fun, removing the colors was the toughest part! My mother would scrub my face with besan (gram flour) and curd to remove the stubborn colors, but some would stay for days, reminding me of the fun.
6. The Happiness of Togetherness
Holi was not just about colors; it was about spending time with family and friends, laughing, and creating unforgettable memories. It was a time when everyone forgot their worries and enjoyed pure happiness.
Even today, when I think about my childhood Holi celebrations, it brings a big smile to my face. Those colorful, carefree days will always be
special!
Happy Holi!
